I have an 2007 Excel workbook that is checked onto a SharePoint server. When
opened, it accesses data from an Access back-end that sits on another server.

I can run the tool just ine from my machine, but when trying to access from
a different machine where Windows user is not me, it gives an error. This
machine is a different Windows user than me, though I do loginto with my
credentials to the SharePoint server to get the Excel file since that
machine's user does not have access to that SharePoint site.

Could this be causing a conflict why it does not work? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Access has limitation of 2000 records. It is same as sharepoint list.
why your Excel is not migrated to a Sharepoint list and reuse your Access as
user interface if you need it.
then, your Access user interface would work from everywhere.
